Villeneuve to contest Le Mans in 2008

Jacques Villeneuve

Peugeot has confirmed that Jacques Villeneuve will be part of its lineup for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

After finishing second in 2007, the French manufacturer will mount a three car assault this year in an effort to topple rival Audi, who have won the prestigious race four straight years.

Villeneuve, who is looking to become the first driver to win the F1 world championship, CART championship, Indy 500 and Le Mans, will be joined by a group of former F1 pilots who between them have almost 400 Grand Prix starts under their belt.

Marc Gene, Nicolas Minassian, Pedro Lamy and Stephane Sarrazin return from last year's squad and will be joined by Honda test driver Alexander Wurz, Christian Klien, Franck Montagny and Ricardo Zonta. Anthony Beltoise will be test and reserve driver.
