Auby to make Lebanese debut

A1 Team Lebanon will give a chance to Jimmy Auby in the next round in Mexico City. Auby will drive for the team throughout the weekend, including making his race debut on Sunday. He will become the seventh driver to race for the squad.

The 21 year-old was present in Durban last weekend as reserve driver to Kahlil Beschir, who just missed out on a points finish after the red flag was thrown in the Feature race.

Beschir admitted after that race the decision had already been taken to race Auby in Mexico next month.

‘I’m just struggling to believe that we missed out by such a small margin.,’ he said. ‘I did everything I could, but it didn’t go our way. I’ve always known that Jimmy was going to drive in Mexico, so I really wanted to bring home a good result today.’

Auby sampled the Lebanese car in pre-season testing at Silverstone last summer, and has recently been racing in open-wheel cars in Europe.
