The penalty assessed against Mr. Wilson was:
- $15,000.00 fine; suspension from NASCAR for the next six (6) NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship Events; suspension from NASCAR until April 9, 2008 (not including testing), and probation until December 31, 2008.
Separate penalties were also assessed against the car owner and driver in this matter, but those penalties were not appealed.
During the appeal, the rules violations were not contested.
After considering the testimony presented during the hearing, it is the decision of the National Stock Car Racing Commission by a majority vote to amend the original penalty assessed against Mr. Wilson by NASCAR as follows:
- $5,000.00 fine; suspension from NASCAR for the next four (4) NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship Events from this date; suspension from NASCAR until April 9, 2008 (not including testing), and probation until December 31, 2008.
The Appellant has the right under Section 15 of the Rule Book to appeal this decision to the National Stock Car Racing Commissioner.
