SPEED and ALMS team up for new fan feature
Starting with the 56th Annual Mobil 12 Hours of Sebring, which can be seen in high definition live March 15 on SPEED beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET, Pruett will cover the paddock or search the grounds and provide interactive answers to what sports car fans are seeking.
“The American Le Mans Series is filled with international superstar drivers, Grand Touring (GT) and Prototype cars that are on the cutting edge of technology, some incredible rivalries, along with a ton of personalities and elements to the series," said Pruett, who’s spent more then 20 years working on and managing various sports car and open wheel race teams. “Giving fans of the series the opportunity to “Be the Director" and dictate some of the videos we shoot is something I’d always wanted to do as a fan.
“If there’s a driver you’ve always wanted to ask a question of; a car you’ve wanted to know more about; technology you want explained, a television or team personality you’ve wanted interviewed, or anything in between, send it in," Pruett continued. “The doors are wide open here for fans to reach into the American Le Mans Series and have the content they want created by SPEEDtv.com."
ALMS President Scott Atherton believes this feature is a natural extension of the type of initiatives the series strives to create.
“SPEEDtv.com’s ‘Be the Director’ is a perfect example of our long-standing mantra: ‘For the Fans,’" Atherton said. “The American Le Mans Series was built on this type of direct interaction and is an extension of our at-track promotions such as the Driver Autograph Session, Open Grid, Fan Forums, Tech Talks and many others. With ‘Be the Director,’ we truly are taking the position of being a leader not only in advanced technology on the track but exciting new fan initiatives off the track."
