ALMS broadcast package one of best
The widespread distribution is the product of the Series' partnerships with SPEED, NBC Sports, ABC, MotorsTV, Greenlight Television, Armed Forces Radio & Television and American Le Mans Radio. The 2008 season includes four network broadcasts with the remaining seven races to air on SPEED and all 11 events covered by MotorsTV, Greenlight Television, Armed Forces Radio & Television and American Le Mans Radio.
SPEED's coverage of the American Le Mans Series begins with a first-ever, one-hour special from Sebring International Raceway from 7 to 8 p.m ET on Thursday. The crew of Leigh Diffey, Calvin Fish, Dorsey Schroeder, Brian Till and Chris Neville will preview the 2008 Series season with interviews and guests from the Series paddock during the 7:15 p.m. night practice.
The American Le Mans Series coverage package on Pan-European broadcaster MotorsTV has expanded for 2008. Again, MotorsTV plans to air the large majority of Series events "live" to its audience of more than 45 million viewers in 31 European countries and in four languages (English, French, German, Greek).
In addition, MotorsTV is continuing a year-long, 60-minute weekly Endurance Racing magazine program that began and was a success in 2007 with American Le Mans Series coverage, a key component. Given time zone differences, the Paris-based broadcasts of Series coverage is generally featured in 'prime time' throughout Europe, a major benefit to American Le Mans Series manufacturers, teams and drivers.
The Series has also enjoyed a continuing partnership with Isle of Man-based Greenlight Television since its early years. Each week on a year-round basis, Greenlight Television produces three different motorsports-related anthology programs as well as Series highlights that are distributed worldwide to an audience of 489 million potential viewers via the world's best broadcasters and distributors.
Greenlight Television staffs every Series event with coverage crew and equipment. A weekly 52-minute highlight program as well as customized 26, 32 and 52-minute edits are available to various American Le Mans Series outlets worldwide following each race.
Since 1999, Series events have been broadcast to a worldwide audience via the Internet through American Le Mans Radio, a unique and widely followed broadcast element of the American Le Mans Series. American Le Mans Radio covers every race in the Series with flag-to-flag broadcasts that also includes extensive pre- and post-race shows. In addition, all qualifying sessions for the Series are covered live, many times with special guests such as American Le Mans Series drivers.
American Le Mans Series fans around the world can access the Series' American Le Mans Radio broadcasts via the worldwide web free of charge. The broadcasts are accessible through the Series website at americanlemans.com and via SPEEDtv.com's 'On-Board Pass' package. In addition, past broadcasts are archived on the site and can be listened to on demand.
