Peak Motor Oil To Sponsor IndyCar Series Pole Award

IndyCar Series officials, together with representatives from industry-leading automotive brand PEAK Performance Products, today announced that PEAK Motor Oil will sponsor the PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award at all 2008 IndyCar Series events.

The award, presented to the fastest qualifier each race weekend, builds on the strong partnership already in place between the IndyCar Series and PEAK Performance Products. PEAK Motor Oil is the official motor oil of the IndyCar Series, and PEAK Antifreeze serves as the primary sponsor of the IndyCar Series' championship race at Chicagoland Speedway.

The PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award will give $10,000 to the fastest qualifier at each race on the schedule except for the Indianapolis 500, where it will award $100,000 for the top qualifier. In addition to the $100,000 for the Indianapolis 500 polesitter, PEAK will award $25,000 to the second place Indianapolis 500 qualifier, and $10,000 for the third-place qualifier. These top-three qualifiers will make up the PEAK Motor Oil Front Row.

Representatives from PEAK and the IndyCar Series will make a Peak Motor Oil Pole Award trophy presentation immediately after qualifying at each race event, and a check presentation during race day driver introductions on the new IndyCar Series stage.

"We recognized years ago the value in partnering with the IndyCar Series to promote our line of high quality PEAK automotive products, and this new sponsorship announcement will build on that longstanding partnership," said Jerry Riccioni, Senior Vice President of Automotive Sales for Old World Industries, maker of PEAK products. "The IndyCar Series has never been better positioned for growth, and we're excited to be a part of that. PEAK has an industry-leading line of premium quality automotive products to offer to consumers, and we look forward to getting those products in front of a growing open-wheel racing fan base."

The PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award will be presented by AutoZone for the first six events on the IndyCar Series schedule, with other presenting partners to be added later in the season.

"It makes good business sense for the IndyCar Series to partner with trusted, quality consumer brands like PEAK," said Terry Angstadt, President of the Commercial Division for the Indy Racing League, sanctioning body of the IndyCar Series. "So we're thrilled to see their interest in expanding our existing relationship and we look forward to working with them throughout this season to maximize the opportunities that we both have in front of us."
