Rahal Letterman Racing Announces ALMS sponsor

The return of BMW to American Le Mans Series competition with Rahal Letterman Racing will feature cutting-edge technology and the latest in performance and innovation, so it is only fitting that a company that embodies all of these ideals has become the first to sign on as a sponsor of the new racing program.

NEC Display Solutions of America and Rahal Letterman Racing today announced the signing of a multi-year partnership where NEC will join the Ohio-based team’s ALMS program as an associate sponsor. One of the world’s leaders in monitors, plasma displays, projection and integrated display solutions, NEC becomes the first company to join RLR and BMW as the German manufacturer makes its much-anticipated return to American sportscar racing in 2009.

“As the BMW M3 features the most recent advances in technology, NEC Display Solutions is well-known for being a leader in bringing innovations and forward thinking to its business," said RLR co-owner Bobby Rahal. “We are pleased to welcome NEC and anticipate a great relationship both on and off the track."

The Chicago-based company will be prominently featured on the BMW M3 at all ALMS events and will also have a major presence at the track with BMW and RLR as its monitors and plasma displays will be a vital component of the team’s trackside and paddock areas.

“Rahal-Letterman Racing, BMW and NEC are three companies with a reputation for advanced development, precise engineering and quality," says Pierre Richer, President and COO of NEC Display Solutions, Inc. America. We are thrilled to be a part of the team and look forward to developing exciting marketing initiatives to support this new partnership."

"BMW and NEC Display Solutions are both at the forefront of technology in their respective fields which makes NEC an ideal partner for our racing program," noted Martin Birkmann, Motorsports Manager for BMW of North America. "Being first is the goal on both the race track and the development of meaningful technology so it is no surprise that NEC Display Solutions is the very first partner to join BMW Team RLR. We look forward to working with NEC as we prepare for the return of the BMW M3 to the ALMS."

The Rahal Letterman Racing BMW M3 will be joining the American Le Mans Series on a full-time basis on 2009, with the team campaigning a pair of cars in the GT2 class. The team and the manufacturer are currently completing their plans as they pertain to testing and competition. More details will be announced as soon as they become available. RLR PR
