Kovalainen to spend night in hospital
(GMM) Heikki Kovalainen will spend the night in a Barcelona hospital after it emerged that he was knocked unconscious in his high speed crash during the Spanish grand prix on Sunday.
McLaren boss Ron Dennis, however, said a CT scan at the Hospital General de Catalunya revealed that the Finnish driver has no head injuries beyond a concussion.
"The team is optimistic that he will make a full recovery over the next few days," Dennis added, explaining that the final step for Kovalainen, 26, prior to clearance to race in Turkey will be the customary FIA medical exam.
The team principal earlier told reporters that he was "99.9 per cent sure" the crash was caused by a rare wheel failure.
