Goo-Goo dolls to play at the Brickyard
The Goo Goo Dolls will take the stage in the infield of the IMS oval for an afternoon performance. The band's performance is free with $15 gate admission for the day, part of the Miller Lite Rock 'N Racing concert series.
This will be the second consecutive Rock 'N Racing concert at the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Miller Lite also presents the wildly popular Miller Lite Carb Day Concert during the Indianapolis 500, with Stone Temple Pilots as this year's headline act Friday, May 23.
"We're thrilled to welcome The Goo Goo Dolls to IMS," said Joie Chitwood, IMS president and chief operating officer. "They are one of the most popular rock bands of the last two decades, and their high-energy, passionate shows are an ideal match for Allstate 400 at the Brickyard weekend at IMS."
The Goo Goo Dolls' concert is the finale of a full day of exciting action at IMS. NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying and practice also take place that day on the historic 2.5-mile oval, with complete schedule details coming soon. The 15th annual Allstate 400 at the Brickyard is scheduled for Sunday, July 27.
Since forming in 1986 in Buffalo, N.Y., The Goo Goo Dolls have evolved from a scrappy, punk-influenced trio into the platinum-selling, chart-topping act behind such radio staples as "Name," "Iris," "Slide" and "Here is Gone."
The Warner Bros. recording artists released their eighth album, "Let Love In," in 2006, which peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. It was the band's second consecutive release that charted in the top 10, as "Gutterflower" reached No. 4 on the Billboard charts in 2002.
A greatest hits album entitled "Greatest Hits Volume One The Singles" is the band's latest release, in 2007. The album includes a new version of the band's 1995 smash hit, "Name." The band plans a release of a second greatest hits album, "Greatest Hits Volume 2," a two-disc set containing songs and videos.
The Goo Goo Dolls are comprised of John Rzeznik on guitar and lead vocals, Robby Takac on bass and Mike Malinin on drums.
