IMSA makes weight changes for ALMS GT classes
IMSA, the technical arm of the ALMS series, has implemented a weight reduction for the three new manufacturers in a bid to help close the gap to the dominant Porsche 911 RSR GT3 and Ferrari F430 GTC. They also gave the Aston Martins a slight break in the GT1 category.
The following Sporting Adjustments are effective immediately for the remainder of the 2008 American Le Mans Series Events unless modified or cancelled by a written bulletin:
1) The following “LM"GT2 cars may remove 25 kg from the minimum weight declared and listed on the Event Entry Form as received and approved by IMSA.
• Aston Martin Vantage
• Doran Ford GT
• Panoz Esperante LMGT
• Riley Chevrolet Corvette C6
The Porsche 911 RSR GT3 may continue at its currently homologated weight.
2) The following changes apply in “LM"GT1:
• Aston Martin DBR9 may compete at 1125 kg minimum weight with two (2) 31.2 mm minimum diameter air restrictors and a maximum on-board fuel capacity of 85 liters.
