Without traction control Monaco will be a bigger challenge

Robert Kubica has only once battled for world championship points for the BMW Sauber F1 Team in Monaco. The Pole finished among the top five on his first attempt last year, and is full of confidence ahead of this year's race.

"I am really looking forward to Monaco", says Robert regarding the coming Grand Prix in the Mediterranean principality. He has good reason to be excited about the race: "I was very strong there in 2007 and I am a big fan of narrow street circuits with barriers right next to the track. Monaco is one of these tight and narrow circuits. There are three or four really nice corners like the swimming pool chicane or the Casino section."

Last year, Kubica qualified in 8th place for the race, and moved up three positions during the 78 laps of the difficult circuit. He crossed the finishing line in exactly 1:41:01,077 hours, having passed his testing premiere at the most demanding course on the Formula One calendar with flying colors.

In 2008 the Pole is facing a new challenge: "The track is quite tricky to understand and it is not easy to find the right set-up of the car in Monaco. Without traction control it will be an even bigger challenge to drive there," says Robert, who heads to the sixth race of the season full of confidence: "We will have to see how our car suits the track. I hope this works at least as well as last year and I expect a good result." BMW Sauber
