Two cars moved to rear of Coca-Cola 600 field
Two cars out of the Haas-CNC Racing stable will be forced to start at the rear of the field in back-up cars for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway after the no. 66 and no. 70 Chevrolet's were found to have illegal modifications to their wing mounts.
Scott Riggs originally qualified 13th for Sunday's event, while Johnny Sauter was already qualified in the 43rd position in the no. 70 car.
NASCAR Director of Communications Kerry Tharp made the announcement on Saturday, saying that both cars had changes made to their upper wing mount attachments that were in violation of the rules. Both cars were impounded by NASCAR and would be brought to NASCAR's Research and Development Center in nearby Concord, N.C. to be examined, forcing both teams to go to back-up cars for the event. Tharp said any penalties handed down as a result of the infractions would be made early next week. Pete McCole
