Indy Winner, Emmo on Wind Tunnel Sunday
05/23/08 The winner of Sunday’s 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500 will be a featured guest on Wind Tunnel this Sunday May 25th at 9 p.m. ET. Emerson Fittipaldi (2-time Indy 500 winner and F1 World Champion) will also be a featured guest of Dave Despain.
Fittipaldi won one of the more memorable Indy 500’s in 1989 when he and Al Unser Jr. made contact while battling for the lead. Al Jr. spun and hit the wall, while Emerson kept going and took the win under the yellow flag. Then in 1993, Fittipaldi beat defending F1 world champ, Nigel Mansell, to claim his 2nd Borg-Warner trophy.
Prior to his success at Indy, Emerson won 2 F1 world championships…in 1972 and 1974. In 1972, he became the youngest world champion in history at age 25. That record stood until 2005 when Fernando Alonso won the title at age 24. This Sunday, Emerson will be in Indianapolis for the 500 where he will be driving the pace car.
Featured Interview #3: Carlos Checa (World Superbike Rider for Hannspree Ten Kate Honda)
After spending more than a decade in 500cc and MotoGP competition, Checa moved to World Superbike for 2008…replacing defending champion, James Toseland, who made the jump to MotoGP. Thus far in ’08, Checa has 4 podiums and is 2nd in the championship standings as he heads into next weekend’s round at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
