Track worker dies after being hit by car
Roy Hiatt, 50, a member of the Anderson Speedway, Anderson, Indiana, safety crew, died at 9:21 p.m. after he was struck and killed by a race car Saturday night at Anderson Speedway during the Pay Less Little 500. Hiatt suffered massive head injuries. According to a witness, four cars had tangled in the first turn on lap 99. A caution was called on the track, and Hiatt and the safety crew were sent out to slow cars and clean up the track. He was run over by one of the race cars. The race was stopped as medical personnel attended to him.
