Euro 2008 rivalry to remain civil

(GMM) Their countries are fierce Euro 2008 adversaries, but BMW-Sauber's international driver lineup will not let the football tournament back home – kicking off on Saturday – descend into nastiness.

"We tease each other a little," test driver Christian Klien, of Austria, admitted to Auto Motor und Sport in Canada. "But I think Nick has the advantage," he added, referring to Germany race driver Nick Heidfeld.

The other driving member of BMW-Sauber's F1 team is Poland's Robert Kubica. All three countries have been brought together in 'Group B' of the popular football competition, sparking a press war, particularly between Poland and Germany, whose historical rivalry is obvious.

In a sort of reversal of the Hitler era, however, Thursday's front page editions of the Polish tabloids Fakt and Super Express declared war on the German football team, calling for the heads of player Michael Ballack and coach Joachim Loew.
