Villeneuve not looking to restart F1 career

(GMM) Jacques Villeneuve's is a notable face in the Montreal paddock this weekend, but the 1997 world champion has played down any suggestion of a possible bid to return to formula one.

The Canadian local was spotted in conversation with many a notable grand prix powerbroker on Friday, but the venue is – after all – named after his famous late father Gilles.

37-year-old Villeneuve's mother has also been spotted at the track that bares her late husband's name.

"I'm here to enjoy the ambiance," Jacques Villeneuve, who last raced for BMW-Sauber in 2006, told the Canadian daily newspaper Edmonton Sun.

"I am busy at my restaurant (Newtown) and with my two children at home," he added.

Villeneuve did, however, confirm reports he is looking to re-start his abortive NASCAR career.

"We are still exploring sponsorship," he said.
