Ryan Hunter-Reay slams Marco Andretti

Hunter-Reay blames Andretti for accident in Texas

Ethanol-sponsored driver Ryan Hunter-Reay went after Marco Andretti this week on the Hoosier Ag Today radio show for their incident with five laps to go last Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.

In addition to calling out Andretti for a “desperation move," he also revealed that there were several other drivers that weren’t happy with the third-generation pilot after last weekend’s race:

“It’s unfortunate, because Marco’s driving like he’s gonna lose his ride. Four other drivers complained after the race; they all came up to me after the race complaining about how Marco was driving. I don’t know, he’s just got to reshape his attitude a little bit.

“He’s just got a horrible attitude about everything, and he just seems to be — I mean, he’s a talented driver, he’s just needs to drive within the limits and he’ll bring home great race cars. Right now, he’s just driving over his head at the moment."

On Lap 224 of the 228-lap event, Andretti moved down the backstretch to try and stop the momentum of Hunter-Reay on the inside line. When they hit Turn 3, Hunter-Reay’s left-side wheels hit the apron and caused his No. 17 Rahal Letterman Racing-prepared machine to shoot up into Andretti’s No. 26 car and send them into the wall.

The incident brought out the caution and Scott Dixon won the race under that yellow. MVN.com
