LeMans: Peugeot 1-2-3 in morning warm-up
The drivers and teams successfully completed this morning's 45-minute warm-up session for today's start of the 24 Hours of LeMans which started at 9am sharp. The three French Peugeot 908 HDi FAPs machines once again topped the timesheets, with fastest times ranging from 3m 20.332s for car N°9 to 3m 22.348s and 3m 22.874s for cars N°8 and N°7 respectively, while their closest rival, Audi, produced best laps in the 3m 23.319s to 3m 25.811s bracket.
The endurance classic starts at 3pm this afternoon with the N°8 Peugeot on pole-position, followed closely by the N°9 and N°7 sister cars in second and third places on the grid. The Team Peugeot Total drivers for the start of the race will be Pedro Lamy (N°8), Franck Montagny (N°9) and Nicolas Minassian (N°7) who did all the driving this morning.
The signal for official start of this year's Le Mans 24 Hours will be given simultaneously by two astronauts present at the circuit and by a cosmonaut orbiting above the planet in the International Space Station. Dry weather is expected for the start. During the race, however, it might start to rain.
