Daly Double at Mid-Ohio
This weekend, the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup will see a little bit of both in action as former Formula One and IndyCar driver Derek Daly and his 16-year old son Conor will both get behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang FR500S at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the Series’ test day on Thursday, June 19.

The father-son combination will provide a unique perspective as they get their first taste of the Pony car racer on the Ohio circuit. Conor will arrive on a hot streak, fresh off an outstanding Father's Day Doubleheader Weekend at Mosport International Raceway that saw him score victories in both Skip Barber National championship and Ontario Formula Ford competition.

“I have only driven open-wheel cars before getting this opportunity to try the Ford Mustang, and it will also be my first time driving at Mid-Ohio, so it should be a fun experience," said Conor.
The last time Derek Daly raced at Mid-Ohio, it was right into the winners circle in IMSA GTP competition. “I think this is a great chance for Conor and his development as a racing driver to get some experience in a car with a roof," said Daly, the long time racing school owner and television personality.
The Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup is a new professional racing series co-developed by Ford Racing and Miller Motorsports Park. Utilizing the new Ford Mustang FR500S and sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, the Mustang Challenge series is a support series to major professional road racing events across North America. A competitive point structure and generous purses make the Mustang Challenge the perfect affordable, challenging platform for racers who want to compete in a V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive car on a level playing field that will showcase driver ability in high-profile events.
