Aerosmith to serve as primary sponsor for Ganassi’s No. 40 Dodge

Chip Ganassi Racing officials announced Wednesday that the video game "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" will sponsor the team’s No. 40 Dodge driven by Dario Franchitti in the June 29 Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The sponsorship is in conjunction with longtime Ganassi partner Target and Activision, makers of the Guitar Hero video game.

“Historically, Chip Ganassi Racing has partnered with many iconic brands," team President Steve Lauletta said in a news release. “Once again teaming with Target and now with Activision’s Guitar Hero franchise only adds to the list. But then coupling that with rock legends Aerosmith is icing on the cake. I think we would be hard pressed to find a promotion that is this much fun and with as much fan appeal inside the garage as it does outside."

As part of the sponsorship, the Guitar Hero consumer bus will be parked in the display area behind the NHMS grandstands on race weekend. Franchitti and Ganassi driver Reed Sorenson will make an appearance at the bus Sunday to try their hand at the game.

Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed.
