Karun Chandhok according to Proust
Karun Chandhok |
The famous Proust Questionnaire is a series of questions asked to people about their lives, thoughts, values and experience. It is an unusual way to discover or rediscover the GP2 drivers. When asked if he would accept to be the first one to answer the questionnaire, Karun said yes immediately with typical enthusiasm and genuineness.
What is your true virtue?
I’m quite an honest person I think and I am generally very straight and open with myself and the people I work with. If I’ve driven badly or made a mistake I’m the first one to admit it and I think generally teams in the paddock will tell you that I’ve always been quite open about any deals.
What is your main fault?
I’m a bit too honest! I get myself in trouble for putting my foot in my mouth quite often. I can sometimes be a bit too hard on myself I think which hurts my confidence.
What is your favorite occupation?
Uh… Let me think – Being a racing driver of course!
Who is your real life hero?
Alain Prost and Lance Armstrong.
What do you dislike the most?
The Valencia circuit! Hopefully I’ll like the street one a lot more.
What is your favorite motto?
“Assumption is the mother of all screw-ups!!"
Where would you like to live?
Switzerland looks like a great place but otherwise I’m quite happy in England for now. Italy’s also a place I really love.
What is your idea of earthly happiness?
Qualifying at Spa or Monaco – can’t beat a low fuel, new tire run on the best circuits in the world. Otherwise, my annual 4 day trip for new years to our family home in a place called Kodi in India, with 15-20 of my closest friends and family is also a fantastic time for me.
What is the quality you most admire?
People who are straight and don’t waste time talking round and round in circles. I hate dealing with these salesman that you often find in motorsport who are all claiming to be able to do a deal with you but spend weeks just talking nonsense !!
What natural gift would you most like to possess?
I think it must be pretty amazing to have natural ability like Raikkonen where you can be so quick without seeming to make too much effort.
What would you like to be?
A Formula 1 race winner of course!
