AGR/MAF Team Up For Iowa Support
With the help of AGR's four IndyCar Series drivers, the team staged an online auction for its sponsors this week and raised $10,000, which will be donated to the American Red Cross. Each driver donated one signed item and sponsors were allowed to submit bids for two days.
Michael Fux of Andretti Green-backer oso*fresh set the pace in bidding by acquiring a Randy Owens print featuring and signed by Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon for $3,100. Jim Gehr of Exel laid claim to a signed, race-worn helmet from Marco Andretti for $3,000, while Brian Lauber from Indianapolis-based OneAmerica bought a signed, race-worn helmet donated by AGR rookie Hideki Mutoh for $2,000. Go Daddy.com's Nima Kelly rounded out the charity auction by securing a signed, Danica Patrick-themed Randy Owens print for $1,200.
An additional $700 in donations brought the final tally to $10,000.
In conjunction with this weekend's Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway, Andretti Green's four IndyCar Series teams and two Firestone Indy Lights teams will wear different caps as part of their regular race weekend uniforms. Instead of their respective sponsor caps, the teams' uniforms will feature caps from Aplington-Parkersburg High School and Dike-New Hartford High School to honor the victims of the tornado that ravaged northeast Iowa on May 25.
