Lime Rock repaving complete

As of last Wednesday, the re-paving of the track at Lime Rock Park was complete. The next morning, promptly at 5:30, Track President Skip Barber took the official “first driving lap" in his yellow 275 GTB Ferrari. Barber stated, “A surreal moment indeed."

Since then, some finishing touches have been made: The tire walls were put back in place, the new guardrail was set up, pedestrian-friendly fencing was re-established, and concrete curbing was installed. Additionally, a great deal of earth-moving, replacing and hydro-seeding have occurred – all just in time for the official re-opening of the track!

During the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the track added another chapter to its book – as it re-opened first for Sam Posey, then for the Skip Barber Racing School. As a show of appreciation for Posey’s lifelong involvement with Lime Rock Park, Skip Barber offered the official “first racing lap" at 9:00AM on Friday, July 4th.

The newly-paved track will be officially unveiled for the American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix, July 11-12.

[Editor's Note: With the asphalt so fresh look for the ALMS cars to tear it up pretty bad.]
