NASCAR makes IndyCar drivers look like Monkeys

Mission accomplished. Now NASCAR folks can say on TV "we have the greatest drivers in the world." Except for Tony Stewart, who landed with a winning team, every open wheel driver that has gone to NASCAR has come out looking like a complete wanker.

"Dario Franchitti is somebody I respect a lot. It's a shame that's happened to him," said Dan Wheldon. "From an IndyCar driver's standpoint you want to see Dario succeed because I think [his leaving] makes the IndyCar drivers look bad."

Juan Pablo Montoya – This very talented driver looks like a loser in Chip Ganassi's horrible Cup cars
Jacques Villeneuve – Was canned after a few races, supposedly over sponsorship – looked bad in the car
Sam Hornish Jr. – Best finish so far 13th. From IRL hero to NASCAR zero
Paul Tracy – horrible equipment made him look like a loser
AJ Allmendinger – Champ Car hero to NASCAR zero
Scott Speed – F1 zero to NASCAR zero
Patrick Carpentier – Showed some promise in qualifying. Green flag dropped and he became another NASCAR zero. Jury still out on him
Casey Mears – Despite being with best team former Indy Lights driver came out looking like a monkey compared to teammates. Fired for 2009.

And there is no way an open wheel driver will land a top ride in the Cup series going forward. It's important NASCAR maintain its image as the highest form of motorsports, so to have top drivers from other series come in and fail helps to drive home that point. Too bad some good drivers had to fall for the trap, destroy their careers, go from hero to zero, but they did.
