Assen gets a taste of new A1GP car

The A1GP Powered by Ferrari car made its debut in the Netherlands this weekend giving the packed grandstands at the Rizla Racing Day in Assen a taste of what the series has in store for season four.

Renger van der Zande was behind the wheel to give the spectators and members of the press the opportunity to hear the distinctive notes of the Ferrari engine that will be propelling all the cars on the A1GP grids as it powered around the Dutch circuit. The A1 Team Netherlands car was also on display in the paddock.

It was a great experience for Renger to be the first Dutch driver to drive the new A1GP car: “It was fantastic. There is so much interest as a lot of people want to know everything about the car, and want to see it and touch it. Yet I have been the one that has been allowed to drive a few laps in it here today. The car feels really good, there is a lot of grip and also quite a bit of torque. There is already a lot of power in the low revs, then it just keeps going and does not top out at the end of the straight. The car balance was ok. I only drove for a short time, but everything felt ok. It is a high-tech car, with all modern developments like the clutch on the steering wheel. It’s very good."

In two weeks time the A1GP Powered by Ferrari car heads to Rotterdam.
