Kanaan signs new 5-year deal with AGR

Tony Kanaan cemented his IndyCar Series future Thursday night by signing a five-year contract to remain with Andretti Green Racing.

Team co-owner Kevin Savoree confirmed the signing, which culminated after four months of negotiations. The signatures came in Kanaan's motorhome at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., where practice begins today for the Meijer Indy 300.

Kanaan is in his sixth season with the Indianapolis-based team. He has 13 wins in the series, third-highest among active drivers.

Kanaan has had a pair of three-year contracts in the past, but Savoree said the Brazilian deserved the new longer deal.

"He's an original part of Andretti Green Racing," he said. "This means a lot to all of us." Indy Star
