Mosport morning warm-up

Audi Sport North America’s Lucas Luhr was the fastest driver in Sunday’s 25-minute warmup for the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport and Round Eight of the American Le Mans Series. Luhr’s Audi R10 TDI that he will share with Marco Werner posted a lap of 1:05.429 (135.298 mph).

The speeds shown in qualifying Sunday continued in the morning session. Luhr’s time was less than Dindo Capello’s pole-winning time from last year – mark the Italian smashed Saturday.

Romain Dumas, the LMP2 pole-winner, was second overall and first in class at 1:05.896 (134.339 mph). He will drive Penske Racing’s No. 7 Porsche RS Spyder with Timo Bernhard as the pairing looks to win overall at Mosport for the second straight year.

Andretti Green Racing’s James Rossiter and Franck Montagny were third overall and second in P2 at 1:06.357 (133.406 mph) in the No. 26 Acura ARX-01b. They were less than 0.2 seconds better than the second Audi of Capello and Emanuele Pirro.

In GT1, Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen continued the dominance of the No. 3 car on the weekend. The Dane put the class pole-winning car on top in GT1 at 1:15.501 (117.249 mph) in the car that Johnny O’Connell put on pole position Sunday. Magnussen was 0.363 seconds ahead of the sister car of Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta, and another three seconds ahead of the Bell Motorsports Aston Martin DBR9 of Terry Borcheller and Chapman Ducote.

GT2 saw Jaime Melo on top again, just as he was in qualifying Saturday. His time of 1:18.200 (113.202 mph) in the Risi Competizione Ferrari F430 GT that he will drive with Mika Salo was 0.023 seconds ahead of Tafel Racing’s Dirk Mueller and Dominik Farnbacher. Next up was the No. 46 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Patrick Pilet and Johannes van Overbeek.
