Impressive F2000 Championship Series debut for Daly
Conor Daly |
In his debut in the F2000 Championship Series in Mosport Park, Canada, Indeck/Cytomax driver, Conor Daly provided the strongest opposition of the weekend to the series points leader (and now champion), Norwegian, Anders Krohn. From his front row starting spot on Saturday, Daly took command immediately at the green flag and a fierce battle ensued. Krohn’s first attempt to pass Daly down the inside at the 135 MPH turn eight was thwarted when Daly held the outside line forcing Krohn to back off. Krohn forced his way by on lap three and the due pulled clear of the field to finish in that order.
On Sunday, Daly turned the heat up in qualifying by putting his Brian Graham Racing prepared Van Diemen on the pole for the second race of the double header at the American Le Mans Grand Prix of Mosport weekend. In the race he struggled with the handling of the car and was not able to hold off Krohn and the finishing order matched Saturdays with Daly’s team mate, Kyle Marcelli completing the podium by finishing third.
Daly’s next race’s will be rounds 11 & 12 of the Skip Barber National Championship to be held at the new Jersey Motorsports Park on August 30 – 31st. With four rounds to go, Daly is in a four way fight for the championship.
