Mowlem tests Corsa’s new Zytek Hybrid LMP1

A week after Corsa Motorsports announced that it will enter a hybrid LMP1 entry from Zytek for the 2009 American Le Mans Series, a video of Johnny Mowlem testing the Zytek at Donnington Park is available from ALMS and SPEEDTV.com. Mowlem and Gunnar Jeannette will drive the car at Petit Le Mans powered by the Totally New Mazda6 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships to close the 2008 season.

For Mowlem, it was his first time in a Zytek since the season-ending race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 2006 when he drove with Stefan Johansson. He drove a Creation LMP1 at Le Mans this year.

"The majority of my racing and certainly my successes so far have been in the GT field and, although I certainly don't see myself as completely turning away from GT racing, the deal I now have moving forward for 2009 is an exciting new challenge for me," said Mowlem. "I don't mean that just because of it being in the Le Mans prototype class (the highest level of sports car racing) and going for overall rather than class victories, but also because of all the new cutting-edge technology that I will be a part of helping to develop with the new KERS system."
