Pantano waiting for F1 team interest

(GMM) Newly crowned GP2 champion Giorgio Pantano has admitted the next step in his career might be in the form of a flight across the Atlantic.
It is looking likely that the 29-year-old Italian, who had an unsuccessful part-season in F1 with Jordan four years ago, is set to become the only winner of the support series who does not move on to the premier category.
"We have to wait and see if there is any contact, see if anyone calls," GP2 veteran Pantano admitted to GP Week.
He said he would consider accepting an offer of a formula one test seat.
"If there is a good offer … I need to focus on my future. I do not want to take an opportunity just for one year. I have to focus on my future," Pantano said.
Pantano flirted with the American open-wheeler scene a couple of years ago, racing a couple of times in the IRL and testing for the now defunct Champ Car series.
He admitted heading Stateside again is an option.
"I'm sure there I can find a good seat to secure my future. If there is nothing good in formula one … I don't want just formula one. I know I have a future, so I want a good offer," Pantano said.
