Tost hopes win is Toro Rosso boost
Franz Tost |
(GMM) Team boss Franz Tost hopes Toro Rosso can benefit financially from Sebastian Vettel's Monza win, but he is not sure it will convince co-owner Dietrich Mateschitz to pull his share off the market.
Red Bull's Mateschitz announced earlier this year that he is trying to sell his 50 per cent stake, as formula one moves away from customer cars in the near future.
After the billionaire tasted the spoils of victory on the verge of the Italian grand prix, it is suggested Austrian Mateschitz may change his mind.
"I don't know," team principal Tost is quoted as saying in an interview with motorline.cc.
"Only Mr. Mateschitz can answer that. I assume that the price of the team has increased! For the team itself, it doesn't change much. Hopefully we can get some new sponsors — the team obviously looks better as a winner than as a loser."
There are rumors in the paddock at present that formula one, having decided against allowing customer cars in the long term, may soon revisit that topic.
Tost said Toro Rosso is moving ahead with becoming a full constructor, and the expansion of the workforce from 175 to 255 is the next step.
"We are also negotiating with various wind tunnels," Tost explained. "It is an enormous task.
"I am not sure it is the right way for formula one. We have six constructors, and I think we should have six private teams, all working together."
