Buemi gets his Toro Rosso audition

Sebastien Buemi, test and reserve driver for Toro Rosso's sister team Red Bull Racing, was behind the wheel of the STR3 today as part of an audition for a race seat with the team in 2009.

After a delayed start because of a mechanical problem on the car, this final test of the season saw Buemi carry out some aero configuration work and general set-up duties, completing one long run at the end of the day.

The Swiss driver made no mistakes and provided good feedback throughout the day, even establishing the third-fastest time right behind the team's maiden Grand Prix winner, Sebastian Vettel, who was getting to know the people at the Red Bull team ahead of his move there next year.

"I'm quite happy, it was a very good first day and I really want to thank Red Bull for the opportunity to test the car," commented Sebastien Buemi after the test.

Tomorrow, driving duties will be carried out by another Toro Rosso race seat contender, experienced Japanese driver Takuma Sato
