F1 news briefs: Wednesday

(GMM) Toyota's departing F1 team manager Richard Cregan is to join the management team of the new Abu Dhabi grand prix from early next year, it was announced on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, it is expected that Toro Rosso refugee Scott Speed will continue his meteoric rise through the NASCAR ranks by joining Red Bull's Sprint Cup team next year.

The speculation follows the team's confirmation this week that his American countryman AJ Allmendinger will not return to the wheel of the no.84 car in 2009. Speed, 25, is testing the car this week and was 2nd fastest on Day 1.
