British team to skip A1GP opener

Due to the delay in the new A1GP car build schedule, A1 Team Great Britain will not be ready to participate in the 2008/09 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport Season Opener at Zandvoort, Netherlands on 4-5 October 2008.

A1 Team Great Britain has today confirmed that it will be one of the A1GP teams absent from Round 1 of the 2008/09 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport taking place at Circuit Park Zandvoort, Netherlands this weekend, 4-5 October 2008. Despite huge efforts from the entire squad to get the British entry ready to compete in the season opener, the delays in the new A1GP car build schedule has unfortunately meant that this has not been possible.

The challenging 4.63km Dutch track holds good memories for A1 Team GBR. A year ago, the team started the 2007/08 A1GP season in style with a dominate victory in the Feature Race, courtesy of Oliver Jarvis. The team's competitiveness continued throughout the season, and GBR went on to finish third in the Championship. A1 Team GBR is the only national team to achieve top three Championship standings in all three A1GP seasons to date.
