Daly wins again and takes National Championship

Conor Daly (C) receives check for $350K to run in Star Mazda next year

After posting his fifth Series win of the season on Saturday October 4th at VIR, Indeck/Cytomax driver Conor Daly won the Skip Barber National Championship presented by Mazda with a second place finish on Sunday October 5th. With the championship on the line going into the final round, Daly just had to finish 11th or better if Brazilian pole sitter Felipe Polehtto managed to win the final race. After leading much of the race, Daly settled for a safe second place to championship runner up, Josef Newgarden.

The championship prize of $350,000 towards a drive in the Pro Mazda series for 2009 was presented by Mazda Motorsports manager, John Doonan.

On October 11th, Daly will travel to Europe for the following month where he will join Newgarden as part of Team USA. They will contest the Formula Ford Festivals in Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
