Force India to announce 2009 partner ‘shortly’

(GMM) High profile Force India co-owner Vijay Mallya said on Wednesday he hopes to confirm the team's technical partner for the 2009 season "very shortly".

It has been reported widely that the Silverstone based team is in detailed talks with McLaren-Mercedes about a collaboration.

Force India is currently powered by Ferrari engines, but team figures have expressed concern about the Italian squad's uncertainty about its KERS package for next year.

Moreover, it is expected that McLaren is offering additional technical support, that may extend as far as chassis and aerodynamic parts.

"As many of the media has reported, we are currently looking into our package for next season and I hope I will be able to announce a deal very shortly," Mallya said on Wednesday.

"I will make sure that my team has the best solution for engine, drivetrain and KERS possible so we can get a good head start and try to get the points that have eluded us so far this season," he added.
