NASCAR weekly cheater report

NASCAR has penalized Jay Robinson Racing driver Kenny Wallace 100 points and the team 100 owners points after the safety foam in the fuel cell did not meet the minimum specified height following the NASCAR Nationwide Series race Saturday.

The infraction, a safety issue, was found following Wallace’s third-place finish Saturday at Memphis Motorsports Park. Crew chief Chris Rice was fined $10,000 for that infraction as well as $1,000 for a rear coil spring that exceed the maximum specified height. Jay Robinson Racing has indicated it will not appeal.

NASCAR also fined Means Racing crew chief Jimmy Means $6,000 – $5,000 for carburetor venturis that exceeded the specified size and $1,000 for a non-approved rear brake caliper. Those infractions were found prior to the race.

Both Rice and Means were put on probation for the rest of the year.
