BMW kills the 8 Series
Munich car maker BMW has cancelled the Concept CS, which was set for production as the 8 Series.
The Concept CS was revealed at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show.
The large, premium saloon would have been a flagship for the BMW line-up.
Profits have fallen by over 60% at BMW, in the wake of the banking collapse and falling new car sales.
A statement simply said, "The BMW Group will no longer produce a series version of the Concept CS since this vehicle does not meet the internal requirements for rates of return."
The company intends to focus its efforts on small car development and the EfficientDynamics program.
