From F2 to F1

It has been confirmed that the F2 points system will mirror that of Formula One – the top eight drivers will score points in each race (10pts-8-6-5-4-3-2-1). The 2009 FIA Formula Two champion will receive a full test with the AT&T Williams F1 team: "The test will be run in such a way as to seriously evaluate the driver with regard to their potential as a Formula One driver," said MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer. The championship top three will also gain an FIA Superlicense.

FIA reveals Superlicense criteria for Formula Two Championship

The FIA has announced that the top three finishers in the Formula Two Championship will qualify for an FIA Superlicense.

The decision means that three drivers per season will become eligible to compete in Formula One Grands Prix, providing a greater opportunity for aspiring F1 drivers than many other championships – such as World Series by Renault, the F3 Euro Series and the British, Italian and Japanese Formula 3 championships – in which only the champion receives qualification for a Superlicense.

In addition to being awarded a Superlicense, the winner will also receive a test drive with the AT&T Williams Formula 1 team as part of their prize.
