Barraclough parts ways with Yates Racing

Crew chief Cully Barraclough will not return to the No. 38 Yates Racing team for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Driver David Gilliland confirmed in a phone interview with SceneDaily.com that he and Barraclough will not be racing together next season. Gilliland also said he has not been told who his 2009 crew chief will be and that the team is still seeking a primary sponsor.

Barraclough has left Yates Racing to join Roush Fenway Racing.

"We're still really looking for sponsorship," Gilliland said. "Everybody is looking for a sponsor and the economy right now is not in NASCAR's favor."

Gilliland said he was disappointed that Barraclough will not be back.

“We had a good relationship and it was his first year as a Cup crew chief," Gilliland said. “I thought we were growing in the right direction together, but I guess sometimes change can be a good thing. We’re still great friends and I wish him nothing but the best." Scenedaily.com
