Ron Hornaday Sr. dies
Ron Hornaday Sr. has died after a long battle with cancer this past Sunday. Hornaday Sr., father of Truck series regular Ron Hornaday Jr., was a two-time champion in the NASCAR Camping World Series West, when it was known as the NASCAR Winston West Series – winning back-to-back titles in 1963 and 1964.
He made 17 NASCAR Grand National/Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup) starts between 1955 and 1973, mainly on the West Coast. Hornaday Sr. was inducted in the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame in its first class in 2002. He was 77.
