SPEED TV extends Motorcross deal

SPEED has reached an agreement with Feld Motor Sports, Inc., to extend its broadcast rights deal for the Monster Energy® Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship, through at least 2013, with new deals also in place to air events from the AMA Arenacross Series, USHRA Monster Jam® and International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Nitro Jam.

“This new deal with Feld Motor Sports delivers a diverse collection of racing properties for our viewers," said SPEED President Hunter Nickell.

“It is a great blend of competition and entertainment … a mix that already has proven to resonate with a large number of race fans." SPEED will open its 2009 racing season with LIVE coverage of the Monster Energy® Supercross season opener from Angel Stadium in Anaheim on Jan. 3 at 10 p.m. ET. The SPEED supercross broadcast team will be led by Ralph Sheheen (play-by-play), Motorcycle Hall of Famer Jeff Emig (analyst) and Erin Bates (pit reporter). Contracts for the AMA Arenacross Series and Monster Jam run through at least 2012, while the IHRA contract is a one-year deal for the 2009 season.

Exclusive Monster Energy® Supercross and AMA Arenacross Series short-form content will be made available all season through SPEEDtv.com, VOD cable, iTunes video podcasts, mobile phones, cable broadband sites and viral distribution. Full races will be made available on VOD cable and select mobile carriers.

In addition SPEED will offer “best of" Monster Jam clips through Web, wireless and video podcast distribution outlets, with ’09 Freestyle events available on iTunes and Amazon for $1.99 each.
