F2 engine undergoes successful test
The 1.8-litre turbo-charged Audi engine that will power each Formula Two car next season has undergone a successful dyno test at Mountune Racing's headquarters.
A dynamometer or 'dyno' test measures the torque and rotational speed produced by an engine, which generates the power needed to drive the vehicle.
The F2 engine reached its 450bhp overboost power target and tests will now continue to measure its reliability and endurance at this power level and the race power of 400bhp. Overall, the engine will be able to rev up to 8500rpm.
The official Formula Two website will be following the progress of the cars as they are constructed ahead of the scheduled first test later this year. Keep visiting the website for the latest news and videos.
