Oakes completes Carlin’s British F3 lineup
British racer Oliver Oakes will complete Carlin Motorsport’s lineup for the 2009 British F3 International Series. The 21 year-old driver, who raced in 10 British F3 rounds last year, will return to Carlin having competed with the squad in his first season of Formula racing, in the 2006 Formula BMW UK championship. Joining the reigning British F3 champions for 2009, Oakes completes a four-driver lineup, consisting of Henry Arundel, Max Chilton and Daniel Ricciardo who have already been confirmed at the four-time championship winning squad. Oakes will take part in his first full season of F3 in 2009, having competed at selected rounds of the 2008 championship. Despite not having raced for the full season, Oakes impressed onlookers at the 2008 season finale at Donington by securing pole position ahead of eventual champion Jaime Alguersuari. Oakes also stepped into Carlin’s second F3 Euroseries seat for the final round of the 2008 season at Hockenheim.
