Monaco voted sport’s greatest wonder
F1's flagship circuit claimed 18 per cent of the vote for the world's greatest sporting venue outside the UK, ahead of Barcelona's formidable Camp Nou stadium and the unique Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, the scene of last summer's Olympic Games.
The survey, conducted by Barclays Spaces for Sports, saw the world's most popular sport well-represented with the Santiago Bernabeu (Madrid), San Siro (Milan) and Maracana (Rio de Janeiro) also featuring in the top seven.
The 100,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia completed the line-up.
