JGR signs young talent

Joe Gibbs Racing announced Friday it has signed 15-year-old Darrell Wallace Jr. to its driver development program, joining 17-year-old Matt DiBenedetto, whose signing was announced last week.

Wallace was last year's top rookie in the United Auto Racing Association, finishing sixth overall in the points and becoming the youngest driver to win a race at Franklin County Speedway, his first victory in Late Models. He is scheduled to return to the UARA circuit this year.

"We started a diversity program with Reggie White several years ago and we have had great success assisting talented young drivers, including Aric Almirola and Chris Bristol, as well as Marc Davis, who we continue to support," said J.D. Gibbs, president of JGR. "It is going to be great watching Darrell and Matt DiBenedetto grow in their development together."
