Rockingham IHRA event postponed
“It was a tough decision and a tough way to start the season," track owner Steve Earwood said. “It’s a no-win deal when you’re dealing with weather but, in this economy, we felt like the worst case scenario would be to ask everyone to sit around for three days hoping for a miracle and then still send them home without turning a tire.
“By making a decision this early, before most of our racers have started their travel, maybe we can save them the gas, motel and meal money for another time."
The Carolinas’ fastest racetrack was to have played host to more than 400 IHRA racers competing in eight categories.
“The worst part is that it was going to be an incredible show for the fans," Earwood said. “If you love early model hemi Dodges and Plymouths like I do, ’65 Ford Mustangs, ’69 Camaros, all of those classic muscle cars, they all seem like they wound up in Pro-Am drag racing."
