Atlanta Tire Notes
This will be the first time that NASCAR Sprint Cup teams will be running this particular set-up of left- and right-side tires . . . this set-up came out of a tire test with Greg Biffle, Juan Pablo Montoya, Sam Hornish and Scott Speed at Atlanta in January . . . compared to the tire recommendation at Atlanta last fall, Goodyear has made construction changes on both sides of the car for improved handling . . . the other change is to the left-side compound, which is softer for improved grip . . . the right-side compound is the same one used last fall, after already having been softened after the spring race at Atlanta . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Atlanta . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire. The estimated pit window is every 50-55 laps, based on fuel mileage. Goodyear PR
