Dutch team announces drivers for next 2 races

A1 Team Netherlands has decided on its driver line-up for the next two A1GP events. The team will continue its policy of rotating its lead man for the next two meetings, having alternated between Jeroen Bleekemolen and Robert Doornbos all season.

Despite Bleekemolen’s race victory last time out in Gauteng, Doornbos will be installed back in the car for A1GP’s maiden visit to the Algarve on April 12. Bleekemolen will return to race at Brands Hatch on May 3, a venue where traditionally there is the strongest away-support for the bright orange team.

The team is having one of its best campaigns ever, having adopted a much different approach to its driver strategy this campaign. In the first three seasons the team chose to stick with one main driver for the vast majority of races, but in 2008/09 the team has split the events down the middle, constantly alternating its pilot.

It appears to be working, with it currently lying fourth place in the championship standings, 18 points off leader Switzerland.

Bleekemolen has a good record at Brands Hatch, with three top six finishes in his last four races at the 2.6-mile circuit.

“We are both doing well," Bleekemolen told A1GP.com. “It’s a hard decision for the team to make [on who will drive where] but I would love to do as many races as it wants because it’s so much fun to race these A1GP Powered by Ferrari cars."
