First Saturday practice postponed by rain

The first of two Sprint Cup practices scheduled for Saturday at Martinsville Speedway has been canceled because of rain. NASCAR hopes to conduct its final scheduled practice from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. EDT Saturday. A heavy mist fell on the Speedway during Camping World Truck Series qualifying. NASCAR was able to get that qualifying done, but the Cup practice scheduled to start after qualifying was delayed.

The Truck race is still scheduled to start after 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service Web site indicates a 70 percent chance of rain today and a high of 57 degrees. The forecast for Sunday is partly sunny with a high of 64 degrees.
